As the president of the Detroit Public Schools Foundation, I was asked “Who are you?”. I was momentarily unable to answer this straight forward and simple question. It would seem obvious that the answer lies in our mission statement. While this is true, it describes why we exist, yet it does not convey the complexity and important characteristics that make us who we are.
